AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF MUSEUMS
ACT NOW Museum Advocacy Update
The Elections May Be Over, But Now The Real Campaign Begins...
As we look ahead to working with a new administration and new Congress in 2009, the call-to-action for museum advocates is clear. It’s now about advocacy and getting our message out about the public value of museums. It’s about making sure that the new President and Members of Congress – especially the dozens of newly-elected Members of Congress – know about the important work museums are doing every day in every communit y.
That’s where you come in. We - museum professionals and supporters across the country - need to make our case to Capitol Hill about why our nation’s museums deserve their support.
But you don't have to do it alone.
Join AAM and fellow advocates in Washington, DC February 23 and 24 for Museums Advocacy Day 2009!
Program highlights include a briefing on our legislative agenda and discussion of the political landscape with high-level political operatives, training on how to build and maintain strong working relationships with your members of Congress and their staff, state delegation lunches for participants to coordinate the following day’s Hill visits, and a reception to honor Members of Congress to cap off Monday’s activities. Tuesday will begin with a Congressional breakfast on Capitol Hill as a kick off to the day of Hill visits.
All of these events are included in the FREE registration!
